CII’s Raghupathy has been elected Regional Chairman for this prestigious campaign

In a major acknowledgment and appreciation to India’s efforts in spearheading global green building movement, Mr. Sundaresan Raghupathy, Deputy Director General of CII and in-charge of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has been elected as Regional Chairman of the Asia Pacific Regional Network – a group of 15 Green Building Councils currently working to advance green buildings within the region. His term for this position is for two years, starting July 1, 2017.

Mr. Raghupathy, who is already a Board Member of World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), has been appointed for his leadership in the green building movement and dedication to improving the sustainability of buildings, both in India and at the regional level.

Ms. Terri Wills, CEO of the World Green Building Council, said: “Whilst climate change is a global challenge, the solutions to it are often local and regional. Championing green building at these levels through our regional networks is therefore essential in order to deliver on our mission of green buildings for everyone, everywhere. “Sundaresan Raghupathy has been a true champion of sustainability across Asia-Pacific, and his leadership as Chair will help to strengthen the network of Green Buildings Councils in the region”, she underlined.

Dr. Prem C. Jain, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), said, it thrills me deeply that Mr. Raghupathy has been elected as Chair of Asia Pacific Regional Network (APN). India has so much in common between the Councils of APN. It will be wonderful for all of us to inherit the best practices of each individual Country in the Region, he underlined. 

Raghupathy’s visionary leadership would facilitate in generating new green building ideas and design solutions that would accelerate the adoption of green building across the region, added Dr Jain.
