The Government recently appoined Mr. Rajiv Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director (CMI) of Air India, in which the Centre plans to divest its stake soon.

Mr. Bansal takes over from Ashwani Lohani, whose one-year term ended recently.

The Modi administration also appointed Secretaries for several key departments.

A Gujarat cadre IAS officer, Mr. Raj Kumar, was named Secretary of Defence Production while Mr. Debashish Panda was appointed as Secretary, Financial Services. Both are 1987 batch IAS officers. Mr. Panda will take over from Mr. Rajiv Kumar.

The Government has given another year’s extension to Parameswaran Iyer, a retired IAS officer serving as Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation. He will continue in the same post.
