Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. (RNAIPL) has started work on the next phase of infrastructure development projects and community wellness programs under its Corporate Social Responsibility program.

Speaking on the occasion, Biju Balendran, MD & CEO, RNAIPL, said: “RNAIPL is not only dedicated towards manufacturing top quality automotive but also making the world a better place to live in. We are committed to meeting the needs of the society, with more initiatives to come. It gives me great pleasure to share that the RNAIPL family has come forward making a significant difference in the environment and the community.”

To promote infrastructure development, RNAIPL will augment tree plantation along the barricades of the RNAIPL manufacturing unit in Oragadam, Chennai, and initiate beautification of the roads nearby. Chennai-based NGO, Sevalaya, has been roped in to oversee the operations and maintenance of the ‘Go Green’ initiative for two years.

RNAIPL has also collaborated with the National Agro Foundation for deepening and desilting of lakes and one such program has been undertaken at Vallakottai village, where the banks of the local water body have been strengthened through embankments and plantation.

Under its community wellness program, RNAIPL has tied up with World Vision India, an NGO that focuses on infrastructure development projects, to build Primary Health Care Centre in Vallam village and a general hospital in Chengalpattu. This collaboration will also extend its services to the Central Sterile Services Department, where it will clear bushes around the fence, build facilities to dry clothes and restore wall murals in the campus.

The CSR wing of RNAIPL also offers meditation training, Kundalini Yoga and motivation training along with several cultural shows in Panruti Village. These activities are carried out in association with World Community Service Centre.

RNAIPL’s CSR strategy is focused on three pillars – Education, Environment and Health. Some of the CSR activities under these pillars include adoption of government schools, student scholarships, to solar lighting in streets, pond desilting, access to clean drinking water, etc.
