United Way Mumbai in collaboration with Wadala RTO & Mumbai Taximen’s Union launched project Covid Ready Taxi on October 12.
Mr. Praksha Jadhav Dy. RTO – Wadala, and Mr. Shyam Khanvilkar, Secretary, Mumbai Taximen’s Union, were present for the launch event.
“We are planning to equip 150 black & yellow cabs to be COVID Ready through this pilot project.”
The activities include:
• Sanitization of the cab
• Installation of Isolation Screen in the cab
• Provision of COVID readiness kit including; reusable 6 layer face masks (3 masks), surface disinfectant spray (2 bottles), 1.5 ltr hand pump spray bottle (1 bottle), 5 litre can of hand sanitizer (1 can), micro-fiber cloth for cleaning the cab, and handwashing paper soaps (10 strips).
The cab drivers are also given a brief training on preventive measures to be taken for controlling the COVID transmission while plying the cab. They are also oriented on the 10 Golden Rules of Road Safety.
“We are also putting up a sticker in the cab educating the passengers about key DO’s and DON’Ts for preventing the COVID Transmission.”
