Mr. H. Shankar assumed charge as Director (Technical), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL), on October 01, 2020. He is a Mechanical Engineer of 1991 from Osmania University, Hyderabad, MBA in General Management from Maharaja Sayajirao University.

Mr. Shankar joined IOCL at Haldia Refinery as Engineer Trainee in February 1992. With a backing of more than 28 years working experience in IOCL Refineries of Haldia, Vadodara & Panipat in addition to Refineries Headquarters, New Delhi, he has a very wide exposure in Refinery Management, Project Management, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Materials & Contracts Management. Deputation to Kuwait National Petroleum Company further enriched him on global best practices in Project Management.

He has the unique experience of executing Delayed Coker Unit (DCU) as a grassroot project at IOCL, Gujarat Refinery and as a revamp project at IOCL, Barauni Refinery. In his last tenure at Refineries Headquarters, New Delhi, he was associated with BS-IV & BS-VI Fuel Quality Improvement project at IOCL, Barauni Refinery.

While managing the projects from Refineries Headquarters, Mr. Shankar was actively involved in ushering in various improvements in project execution which resulted in reduction of cycle time. His latest achievement was in directing the investment proposal for the Expansion Project at Barauni Refinery in January 2020.

His technical skill-sets along with the ability to lead strong & robust teams based on good interpersonal relations & excellent boundary management, coupled with multilingual skills in conversing fluently in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and English shall be an asset for the role he will be assuming.
