To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee year of the Indian Navy, Aircraft & Engine Holding Unit (A&EHU) of the Indian Navy – Sulur, Coimbatore, one of the oldest Naval Aviation units of the Navy, embarked on a 5000+ kms motorcycle expedition with 10 officers to all major naval air stations in India. The riders will be accompanied by 8 differently-abled members from Prajahitaa, an NGO dealing with persons with disabilities, to spread the awareness about accessibility of public spaces to differently-abled personnel.
The ride was flagged off from Sulur Airforce Station in Coimbatore on November 11, 2021, by Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral A K Chawla in the presence of other key officials from the unit.
Royal Enfield, the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, supported the Diamond Jubilee expedition with its Cruiser model the ‘Meteor 350’ motorcycles and safety gears to the Navy team. The expedition is expected to culminate at the same Navy Aviation unit on December 2, 2021.
