Established in 1945, Hindustan Chamber of Commerce (HCC) was affiliated to FICCI, New Delhi. The Chamber has more than 900 members from various segments of trade & industry. HCC recently celebrated its Platinum Jubilee.
At the 76th Annual General Meeting of HCC held on Chennai on September 30, 2022, the following office-bearers for the year 2022-23 were unanimously elected. Mr. V. Nagappan was elected President of the Chamber. Mr. Vijay P. Chordia was chosen President Elect. Mr. Linesh Sanatkumar and Mr. T. Ramesh Dugar were elected Vice Presidents. Mr. Praveen Kumar Tatia was the Treasurer.
At the AGM, CA K Suresh, the outgoing President, delivered the welcome address and assured his full support to the incoming team of HCC.
Mr. V. Arun Roy, Secretary to Government, MSME Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke about Tamil Nadu’s various achievements and called for industrialists to invest more in the State.
Mr. Satyajit Tripathy, Chairman & Managing Director, United India Insurance Company Ltd., the special guest of the AGM, spoke about India’s resilient approach during the last two years of pandemic and the outstanding contribution made by the corporate sector for the faster turnaround. Today the growth of our country is driven by 3 major areas, i.e., manufacturing, agriculture and services and United India Insurance offers a variety of schemes for all these 3 sectors. It is also a major insurance service provider for leading and larger industry houses including ONGC, IOC, HPCL, Ashok Leyland, MRF, etc.
Mr. M. Ponnuswamy, Chairman & Managing Director, Pon Pure Chemical India Pvt. Ltd., guest of honour, outlined his company’s journey as well as the positive trends of Tamil Nadu State.
Mr. Nagappan, the newly elected President, briefed on the plan of action and activities for the forthcoming year by the new team. The Chamber intends to focus more on encouraging and guiding start-ups and young entrepreneurs as well as closely work with Government and trade bodies, he added.
