The Government of Thailand has recently celebrated the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand in Chennai in which several business leaders, diplomats have taken part. Mr. Nitirooge Phoneprasert, Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate – General, Chennai, offered a cordial reception to each and every delegate from different industry sectors.
Dr. PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for Finance & Human Resources Management, Government of Tamil Nadu, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, complimented Thailand Government for maintaining a very social and fruitful relationship with Tamil Nadu for many years. He is also quite impressed by the growing bilateral trade relationship between Tamil Nadu and Thailand.
Speaking on the special occasion, Mr. Nitirooge Phoneprasert said India and Thailand always maintained a very strong and cordial relationship for many decades and it is expected to further grow as both the countries are looking for increasing bilateral trade in several sectors. In India, the Southern Region consists of Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka and Pondicherry has more trading activities with Thailand and there is greater opportunity to further expand. Several delegate visits have taken place recently including the members of South India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) have visited Thailand to explore business relationships. Similarly the business delegates from Thailand have also visited Southern States such as Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, etc., for mutual business activities. The Thai Government is also planning to organise the Thai Trade Expo 2023 in Chennai during May 2023.
The National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand is being celebrated on 5th December every year to mark the birth anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, popularly known as the ‘Father of the Nation’.
